Ancora una volta sporcata da episodi arbitrali discutibili la sfida tra Liverpool e City: vantaggio ospite di Foden annullato per un fallo di Haaland. Il norvegese in effetti commette fallo a centrocampo, l'arbitro aveva però lasciato correre, come ha fatto del resto per interventi simili o anche più evidenti prima e poi. Il VAR interviene e ridà vita al Liverpool che la vince su una clamorosa topica di Cancelo.
A Leeds, dove l'elettronica non funzionava (e dove non si è dunque potuto giocare a calcio, siamo alla follia) l'Arsenal passa e allunga. Tiene il passo Conte, ottimo anche l'andamento del Chelsea di Potter mentre stenta il successore De Zerbi a Brighton.
Vittoria fondamentale in fondo per il Wolves con il Forest che sbaglia un calcio di rigore a 10' dal termine.

Il Manchester United batte il Tottenham ma sotto i riflettori c'è Cristiano Ronaldo: rifiuta l'ingresso negli ultimi minuti del match e abbandona il campo prima del fischio finale. Ennesima figuraccia di una persona davvero piccola e che avrebbe sicuramente fatto meglio a scegliere il tennis come sport. Giustamente Ten Hag lo fa fuori dalla squadra che sabato andrà a Stamford Bridge.

Il Southampton vince il derby del Sud e respira, importantissima vittoria anche per il Leicester contro un Leeds che ha già buttato via tutto il vantaggio accumulato con l'ottimo inizio di stagione.
Ore contate invece per Steven Gerrard all'Aston Villa.

Stavolta è solamente il Manchester City a sorridere, con l'Arsenal bloccato a Southampton, il Tottenham sconfitto da un Newcastle che punta in alto e il pari di Stamford Bridge. Liverpool addirittura sconfitto a Nottingham contro una squadra che resta comunque sul fondo della classifica perché dietro si sono messe a correre: il Leicester infila la seconda vittoria consecutiva aggravando la crisi dei Wolves, l'Aston Villa, liberatosi di Gerrard, festeggia con un poker.

E a Birmingham vogliono fare le cose in grande: pagata la clausola rescissoria al Villarreal per Unai Emery che tornerà così ad allenare in Premier League 3 anni dopo la fine dell'esperienza poco fortunata sulla panchina dell'Arsenal dove fu il successore di Wenger.

Il Southampton non aspetta l'ultima settimana prima della pausa per il mondiale ed esonera Ralph Hasenhüttl.
Il manager austriaco guidava i Saints dal dicembre 2018 ed ha condotto il club a delle salvezze senza troppe sofferenze, pur subendo due pesanti malrovesci per 9-0 contro Leicester e Manchester United nel corso degli anni.
Ora il club è in zona retrocessione e la rosa, molto giovane (il club ha speso tantissimo per diversi giovani del Manchester City), sembra non essere in grado di poter sopravvivere in Premier.

Allunga l'Arsenal grazie al k.o. interno del City, continua il grande campionato del Newcastle, rimonta fondamentale per il Tottenham, tiene il passo lo United che passa nel recupero col Fulham che quindi in 2 settimane perde entrambe le sfide con i club mancuniani per 2-1 negli ultimi istanti di gara.
Inizia a essere pesante il distacco del Chelsea dal 4° posto.
Nella seconda metà di classifica pausa con bella boccata d'ossigeno per Villa e Leicester, inverte il trend il Bournemouth con l'Everton, dove ora sono tutti in discussione, che passerà un brutto mese.
Male anche il West Ham dove però Moyes non dovrebbe rischiare il posto. Il Forest lascia l'ultimo posto e si porta a -1 dalla salvezza.
